When a family builds a home on land they already love, the stakes are different. There’s a connection to the property that shapes every conversation, and the responsibility to get it right goes deeper. This project on a large Abbotsford farmstead was exactly that kind of build.
The clients owned a substantial piece of farmland in Abbotsford with an existing house on the property. They came to us with the vision of a large, modern home built for themselves and their three children. Working closely with the clients, every detail of the design and construction was thought through carefully and collaboratively. The clients were involved at every stage, and that level of engagement meant the finished home reflected exactly what they had in mind.
Custom homes at this scale are full of moments where a client’s specific wish requires a creative technical solution. On this project, the homeowner had a vision for her ensuite shower: a flowing riverbed aesthetic, with the look of water moving from the wall into the floor. Achieving that required careful work with materials, gradients, and installation techniques to make the visual effect feel natural while still functioning properly as a shower. It’s the kind of detail that elevates a space from well-built to genuinely memorable.
We began building our home in April 2014 and moved in February 2015. Ryan and Darcy were great to work with. They did a wonderful job of building and finishing our home, and we are very pleased with how it turned out. They listened to our suggestions and wanted our input. Throughout the building process our questions and requests were dealt with quickly and effectively.
I really enjoyed working with Sharon with decor decisions. We went on countless trips to find lighting, flooring, tile, granite and so on. She has great ideas and suggestions and I really appreciated all her time and effort in helping us.
Graham and Steve did a wonderful job from foundation walls to all the finishing details. They work hard and put extra time and effort into doing things well.
